Mamas In Need was born out of the ridiculous number of deaths in childbirth in rural villages in Africa. The Charity was founded in 2017 by Nina Obinna Kalu and Lovina Kalu.
Mamas In Need is a secular organisation with no religious affiliations. Our projects and services are open to all members of the local communities regardless of their background or faith. Our work is mainly in poor rural areas where the hospitals and Maternity Centres have been neglected by the government. We work in partnership with organisations which share our vision and values.
Our story started after numerous telephone calls to one of our midwives asking for help and equipment to prevent the number of deaths at the Health centre. These health centres are run by 1 or 2 midwives with other mothers helping out. They operate with little or no Basic equipment equipment.
Mamas In Need is a new charity and we need your support to save the life of a mother and her baby during childbirth. Help support us to get us registered by Donating! Every little you give will help save a life.
We have started with the Amogudu Health centre Ojighirindu. This is located in Abiriba, a rural village in Abia State. We will then move on the Ohafia the next neighbouring village to Abiriba.
